At 3:30 p.m., a neighbor to the house on fire at 217 Main St. ran to the front of the Lambertville firehouse yelled that a house was on fire, the Lambertville Fire Department said on Facebook.
The Lambertville Fire Department was in the middle of a shift change when the fire occurred, allowing for firefighters to respond immediately, fire officials said.
A person was assisted out of a second floor rear roof and firefighters had the fire under control in six minutes.
"Without firefighters staffing the fire house the outcome could have been totally different," the Lambertville Fire Department said.
